Addition Using Regrouping of Numbers

Regrouping means to rearrange the numbers to make the addition easier.

Let us consider the case when we are adding 2 tens and 15 ones

As 15 is a number is bigger than 10 we will group the tens and leave the remaining object.

For example 15 is represented by apples, we will group ten apples and will consider then as 1 tens and remaining 5 apples as 5 ones as shown in the figure below

We will then add the tens that is 2 + 1 = 3

Hence the result is 3 tens and 5 ones or 35
